Our Story
At Ciccone’s Artisan Bakehouse, we believe the best food is a double blessing: a joy to the palate and a gift to the body. Our journey is rooted in the ancient wisdom that our food should be our medicine—but we believe that medicine should taste like a celebration.
A Journey of Transformation
Our story began in Brooklyn, NY, where food is the universal language of love. When we met in 2017, we shared a passion for big flavors and even bigger dreams. By 2020, we embarked on a life-changing journey into a plant-based lifestyle.
But there was one problem: we weren’t willing to give up the soul-satisfying foods we loved.
We started experimenting in our kitchen, determined to recreate our favorite comforts using wholesome, "better-for-you" ingredients. What began as savory experiments—think Eggplant "Parm" and Buffalo Cauliflower "Wings" powered by chickpea flour and cashew-based sauces—quickly evolved into a sweet obsession. We discovered that by using almond flour, oat flour, flaxseeds, and the natural sweetness of maple syrup and coconut sugar, we could create treats that didn't just satisfy a craving, but actually fueled the day.
A Legacy Born in Brooklyn
The Ciccone name carries more than heritage — it carries history. After World War II, our family opened a pastry shop in Gravesend, Brooklyn, NY in the 1950s. For decades, it was a neighborhood staple: the kind of place where everyone knew your name, where holiday orders filled the windows, and where the smell of fresh pastries drifted out onto the sidewalk.
They kept their doors open until the late 1980s, serving a community that grew up on their biscotti, thumbprint cookies, and Sunday‑morning sweets.
Even though the shop eventually closed, the spirit of that bakery — the craftsmanship, the pride, the love poured into every batch — never left our family. Today, Ciccone’s Artisan Bakehouse is our way of honoring that legacy while reimagining it for a new generation.
Bread, Heritage, and Intention
As Italians, the Ciccone name carries a legacy of tradition and a deep respect for the table. That’s why we refused to believe that carbs were the enemy. Instead, we fell in love with the ancient art of Sourdough. By focusing on the gut-friendly complexity of long fermentation and hand-crafted techniques, we brought bread back to its rightful place as a staple of wellness.
The Symbolism Behind the Bake
If you look at our logo, you’ll see the Owl and the Dragonfly. They aren't just there for decoration; they represent the heart of our mission:
-
The Owl: Symbolizes the deep knowledge and wisdom we pour into researching every ingredient and technique.
-
The Dragonfly: Represents the transformation we’ve undergone—both in our lifestyle and in the way we reimagine traditional baking.
- The Olive Branch: A timeless symbol of peace, harmony, and nourishment, reflecting our commitment to creating food that brings balance to both body and mind—simple, honest ingredients meant to be shared and enjoyed.
"At Ciccone's, we bake with intention, so you can eat with purpose."
We specialize in artisan bakes that bridge the gap between childhood nostalgia and modern wellness. From our kitchen to your home, every cookie, loaf, and pastry is dairy-free, refined flour-free, and refined sugar-free—crafted with the grit of Brooklyn and the grace of nature.
